The trip to Dharamshala got planned just like that. One fine evening as I didn’t had anything to do to pass sometime prior to dinner I ended up planning a trip to….I don’t recall now what was the initially intended destination…..but there must have been at least a dozen suggestions followed by prolonged discussions. Finally, we found that our class is just incapable of reaching consensus .Well then I forgot about it all and found 4 people walking towards my desk to inform me that they would love to go to Dharamshala .
Dharamshala is a medium-sized town peopled with friendly, soft-spoken pahadi people. The owner of the only hotel with a room to spare for us was an exception. He would not budge below 688 bucks for a sorry looking room for us. We of course didn’t took it. Then we went a head to Macleodganj and started searching for a hotel over there. In between there was a nakka by himachal police for which we have to shed 150 bucks to them for entry to Macleodganj. Finally we found a good Hotel (SKYLARK) accommodation in which we 4 people could stay. One could see in the fading light three mountain tops from the hotel, all partially covered with snow in what was a sizzling winter in Chandigarh. We took a nap of about 45 mins in hotel and then we went to mcloo market for some bird watching ;) It was full of Tibetans and foreigners . We went to recharge shop over there as robin needed bucks in his phone . I also went with him and inquired about the Rave parties . Then we came to know that there is a party in Excite club from 8 pm to 1am. And we all were really excited for the party especially Mr Robin and the time was 7:00 pm by that time so we rushed back to the hotel and had our dinner at Lotus Dhaba as we were getting late. After having the dinner we went back to the hotel room and had some pegs over there for getting into the form for party. We reached the party around 10 pm .
We entered the club and Robin was really excited after seeing the crowd over there. I saw an angel over there of that I'm sure. She smiled at me in the club. She was with his man but still giving that naughty looks to me. At that time I just finished with four sticks just staring at each other. She was really gorgeous and her dance was also very rhapsodic . We danced for almost 3 hours. Robin was dancing on the tunes of” Mittran di chatri ...” as some guys pulled him off for the dance as it was a Punjabi number .The best part in the club was that Niks performed the rap song on Chandigarh by Raj Brar and I performed “SUTTA “ in the club. After these performances all the Punjabis were on one side recognizing us and asking where you from. That was the best part. There was a formation of two groups by then Punjabis and the Tibetans group. Then the bouncer came to us and said the party is over and you people please leave...PUNJABIZ ROCKS.................! BURAH...........! Then around 2am in the morning we went to the hotel by walk and went to sleep.
The next morning we set out for Bhagsunath temple, the Dalai Lama temple , Dal lake, St. George’s Church and the Triund which lies at the foot of Dhauladhar at a height of 2827m.. On getting up I realised that others were still sleeping and I went out for a stroll. Macloedganj has a kind of something unique in its air, a kind of “hereness”(the feeling of being here completely) which gets on your nerves if you go for a solitary walk and you tend to get diverted towards routes which otherwise only a child would have selected, the ones leading nowhere.
So, by the time I was back all were ready for the day and we went to a waterfall, the Bhagsunath temple, the Dalai Lama temple where a discourse by His Holiness was scheduled but we reached a little too late,St. George’s church and the Dal lake which turned out to be the “dull” lake as there was no water in the lake.
Afterwards, we were planning to go to the Triund stretch in the night but some paanwala started telling us the stories that it’s really very risky going there in the night. There are wild animals in the night . But still i had the inner thought of going then he told us that about 15 days back there was a bear attack over there on the electrician. That made me change my mind a little but still i managed to get the torch and knife for the trekking stuff. But when he told us that there are also cheetah’s available in the stretch in the night. That made us change our mind completely as we can’t bear one cheetah of our college how could we have beared that cheetah on the trek. So the plan got changed and we took some snacks and went back to hotel in the night.
We switched on the lapi and made the suitable arrangements of drinks with the snacks and movie “DIL Dosti E.T.C” was there with the drinks. Sheeshpal this time joined us for the drinks and movie. Robin was high this time. 1 Peg ...2 Peg ....3Peg... 4 Peg......... and the number was just going on for Mr Robin . After the movie got over Robin was full on. Then we played some songs on the lapi with full volume of the speakers with the woofer. And the first song was like this “Beedi jallaile jigar se pyar” The kaloli song had loads of fun in this song. Then came the Robin’s favourite one “Jatt di Sharab lalkare mardi” Robin was making full lalkare on it. Then robin got sentimental after the dance session got over. And told us about his life and all. We were surprised to know that he was BKL in past life just kidding . Then we went on for the gueris in mclo in the night. That was also a fun. We went to dinner at Hot Spot in the night around 12:30 am and guess what the spot was really hot with the hot chicks over there...lol. We had our dinner over there and then went back to hotel and went to sleep.
And then we were suppose to leave for few kilometres ahead for Bundla chasm which falls over a 100 metres to the Bundla stream. But there was some work going over there and the stream was closed for sometime. This is known as small banana big banana will come after some time....lol . Then we had our breakfast in some dhaba and after that went on to see the tea plantation and manufacturing. Then guess whats our next destination could have been . It was a mini zoo as robin was dying to go to it. We headed for there . We had a stop in between where we found a beautiful place to hangout our whole day but No Robin had to see a zoo ... So instead of spending time here we went to see the ZOO with robin travelled for about 15 kms to see and asking people about the directions. Everyone told us the right directions. People are so generous over here . We reached the zoo and then came to know its closed on Mondays . Everyone told the directions but no one mentioned about this thing. This is known as Big Banana .
We took some coke bottles ,glasses and bingo with us and went back to the same place. It was something like the river. The water was fucking cold man. I wanted to take a bath in it but no one agreed . We went down there with the lapi and all the stuff... switched on the songs and started dancing after some pegs... Noone dared to take a bath in the river then i alone had to take out the clothes and go for it. Then Robin and Nikhil also came with me and in the end vikas also. That expierence was really amazing. The water was really making us freeze over there. Having drinks in that water with beautifull scenery around you is really amazing.
After spending 2-3 hours over there we went back to the Scorpio and headed back towards the Chandigarh . We visted Nangal division and Anandpursahib g on the way back to Chandigarh. We had pur dinner in Kurali and reached home by 1 am in the morning of 29th. All in all it was a wonderful trip with a set of completely new expierence with new friends.
